1st Annual Bowness Harvest Fair!

September 1, 2010 Leave a comment Go to comments

The first annual Bowness Harvest Fair will take place Sept. 11, 2010, from 9 a.m. to noon in the parking lot at the Boys & Girls Club on Bowness Rd. The harvest celebration promises to be great fun for the whole family! One event that will be of particular interest to Bowness gardeners is the produce swap. Bring extra produce from your garden to trade for something you didn’t grow. Any vegetable or fruit is welcome.

There will be an exciting Blue Ribbon contest, so enter your best jam, pie or homemade wine to see how it compares! There will also be prizes for the biggest zucchini and pumpkin. Be sure to register your prized vegetables!

Don’t miss our lineup of interesting speakers. We will have experts making presentations on pickling, jamming and canning.

For the kids we’ll be holding Blue Ribbon burlap sack and egg-carrying races. Different age groups will be competing.

We’re looking for volunteers from the gardening community to run the produce swap. If you’re interested in helping, please contact us at bownessvitalsigns@gmail.com or check out our posts at www.mybowness.com.
