Boys & Girls Club unveils collaborative youth art project

The Bowness Boys & Girls Club is excited to unveil a new piece of art, which will rejuvenate one wall of the Club. On April 30, Y.E.A.R. hosted the Bowness Block Party. At the event, local artist Nikki Gour held a workshop where youth were invited to artistically express their feelings about Bowness.

Bowness artist Nikki Gour worked with local youth at Y.E.A.R.’s Bowness Block Party in April to produce this work of art, “Community Belongings,” to be unveiled July 10 at the Bowness Boys & Girls Club

Please join us July 10 at 11 a.m. at the Club (36, 7930 Bowness Road NW), along with Y.E.A.R, Urban Youth Worx, Nikki and the youth artists, for the Lions Club Stampede Breakfast and the unveiling of our community project. You’ll be inspired!

Y.E.A.R., the Youth Engaging Agencies Responding Project, is a local group of community members exploring ways we can make Bowness a place to belong for youth.

Last April we hosted the Bowness Block Party, out of which grew the collaborative art project “Community Belongings” that will be housed at the Boys & Girls Club.

We are continuously seeking opportunities like this to involve young people with the community in meaningful ways. If you have any ideas for engaging youth or have any questions about our project, please contact me at 403-669-5533 or tbuikema@bgcc.ab.ca.
