Bowness Lions fire up the BBQs for another busy season

The Bowness Lions have been serving the community for the past 62 years. As a non-profit service organization endeavouring to make life easier for those in need, members are all volunteers who raise funds from fun casino rentals and BBQs. Our main source of revenue comes from Cash Casino where we donate our time once a year.

Saturday, July 10, is our Stampede pancake breakfast and parade, with funding coming from local businesses and Bowness Lions.

Our annual breakfast and parade started 21 years ago, with food for around 750 people and a five-minute parade with decorated bikes. Now we serve about 6,000 people and the parade is an hour-and-a-half long!

Hats off to Larry Hausauer of Casement Electric, Dave and Bev Heerschop, John Knowler, John Goodrich and Harold Graham, who put in lots of hours organizing the breakfast and parade. Special thanks to all!

Breakfast is at 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Bowness Plaza. The parade starts at 9 a.m. from the Shouldice Bridge. We are also involved with the Bownesians’ Picnic and BBQ at Baker Park on July 18. Hope to see you there!
